What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and it is just as simple as it sounds.
We offer you the opportunity to support your local farmer by investing in the coming season’s crop. Your up-front commitment gives us the security to focus on growing, with the peace-of-mind that comes with knowing that the crop is pre-sold. In return, you will enjoy the farm’s bounty of the most fresh and flavourful foods, while knowing exactly where, when and how it was produced.
What varieties of crops are available?
Thai Basil, Sweet Basil, Mint, Parsley, Chives, Cilantro, Dill
Heirloom Leaf Lettuces, Kale, Chard, Bok Choy, Arugula, Mache, Mustard Greens, Collards
When & Where do I pick up my produce?
Pick-ups will be every Friday, from 3pm – 6pm at the Canadian Tire Parking lot in Huntsville.
What is the difference between ‘Fresh-Cut’ vs. ‘Live Produce’?
There are many advantages to Live Produce. It is a well-known fact that most foods begin to lose nutrients and flavour from the moment they are harvested. With your food living only steps from your table, you are ensuring the highest possible levels of nutrition and flavour.
Since most produce is highly perishable, having yours’ living at your home for as many as 3 weeks will help you eliminate spoilage, as well as save you costly and inconvenient extra trips to the grocery store for fresh produce.
Plus, you’ll have your own vibrant, edible vertical garden, without the hassles of a standard garden.
Is it organic?
Though we are not Canada Organic Certified, our crops are grown using only organic principles. No chemicals are applied on our crops. In the rare event that we use a pesticide, we only use OMRI (organic) certified products. We are committed to complete transparency about our growing techniques and will gladly discuss them in detail with our customers.
What if I miss my pick-up?
In the event that you can not make it to pick up your produce, you can send a friend, or family member in your place. Any orders not picked up during the pick-up time will be donated to the Table Food Bank of Huntsville.
How much produce comes on a tower?
In our experience, a full tower of lettuces or greens typically yields about 4 – 6 lbs., and a full tower of Herbs yields about 2 – 3 lbs.
How do I select the varieties that I want on my towers?
Your CSA sign-up sheet has all the varieties listed on it, and allows you to pick and choose which crops you would like grown on each tower.
